The Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Special Education beginning Fall 2022. The Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education has nine full-time faculty members, offers graduate programs in school counseling and special education, and teaches courses in learning, development, assessment, and special education for elementary and secondary education majors. Job Description:
Duties include but not limited to:
teaching in both the Special Education master's programs and general education undergraduate programs; maintaining activity in scholarship, student engagement, and student advisement; fulfill service responsibilities to the Department and the University; contributing to college-wide goals, and teaching other courses to meet department needs.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
: earned doctorate (ABD considered, doctorate required at time of appointment) in special education or a closely related field; experience in teaching special education courses with an emphasis in Explicit Instruction; experience in special educator training and supervision; relevant teaching experience (3 years) in a school setting; evidence of scholarly potential/productivity.
Preferred
: familiarity of CEC program standards, training in ABA, experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level; capability to teach courses in the areas of instructional design, behavior, early intervention; experience with online learning as an instructor and/or student Familiarity with High-Leverage Practices, CBM, MTSS; evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching; evidence of active scholarly activities; and experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
