The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade ES3. Salary Minimum $35,568. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field, and three years of related experience.
  • Related experience includes work with students in higher education within academic programs and/or development of student programs that directly foster student persistence.
  • Experience with education and research of culturally diverse and underserved populations. Experience with curriculum in a STEM field (preferably engineering).
Position Description

An Academic Counselor Senior in the Office of Student Success at the Speed School of Engineering is part of the academic counseling team and will advise a caseload of BS and MEng students on their degree requirements, policies and procedures, and academic opportunities. This also requires maintaining detailed student records, which informs advisors' practice when conducting enrollment and academic outreach. Under leadership from the Assistant Director of Advising, this position may support office needs such as collecting data, training new employees and/or student staff, and liaising with campus partners.

As needed, this position will participate in office programming designed to foster student success (e.g., orientation, presentations, panels), represent the office on unit and university committees, and assist in additional office functions and duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Counsel BS and MEng students on degree requirements, policies and procedures, and academic opportunities
  • Maintain detailed records and reports
  • Conduct enrollment and academic outreach
  • Make referrals to campus services/persons (e.g., Financial Aid, the Counseling Center, REACH) as needed
  • Assist Assistant Director of Advising as needed with gathering data and presenting information to campus partners
  • Assist Academic Coordinators in training new members of the academic counseling team and/or student staff
  • Represent the office on unit and university committees
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
