Position Title: PEACE Project Coordinator

The PEACE Project Coordinator will be leading a new, grant-funded, 3-year initiative at the University of Montana, aimed at building a culture of respect and care. The new Coordinator must be strategic, collaborative and passionate about the advancement of equity. Their job will be to reduce violence at UM by increasing communication and coordination of PEACE Project partners, increasing outreach and education to more diverse audiences, and creating relationships, policies and systems that will ensure the sustainability of their work moving forward. The UM PEACE Project Coordinator will oversee the project, monitor progress, serve as point of contact with OVW, coordinate site visits and technical assistance, participate in trainings, and ensure the UM PEACE Project complies with statutory requirements and grant special conditions.

Responsibilities of the Position

The PEACE Project Coordinator performs the following tasks in collaboration with the Student Advocacy Resource Center Director, and in partnership with the Director of Equity, Empowerment and Prevention:

This position is grant-funded and is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and reporting on the outcomes of the PEACE Project work to the OVW Campus Grant Program.

Coordinate the PEACE Project Committee work, including soliciting stakeholder input and facilitating the co-creation of a collaborative violence prevention plan.

Help research, create, coordinate and provide outreach and prevention education and training on sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and other forms of identity-based discrimination for students in the U of M campus community, including oversight and coordination of a primary prevention awareness campaign.

Develop and maintain educational and communication tools (web, print, social media).

Create and implement assessments of all violence prevention educational programs based on best practices. Summarize, analyze and share results from assessments with supervisor.

Position has a primary focus on U of M campus community. Outreach activities outside U of M while welcomed, should not exceed 3-5% of weekly commitments.

The position may recruit, support and oversee the work of UM student volunteers for the project.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a field such as community/public health, social work, psychology or related field.

Three (3) years of related experience in prevention education, training development, and program assessment specific to sexual assault, relationship violence, and identity-based discrimination.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Excellent project management skills required; ability and willingness to manage flexible workload, multiple tasks, and to work some evening and weekend hours.

Experience in program planning, collaborative program development, developing educational presentations, outcome assessments, and communication tools (web, print, social media).

Excellent public speaking, written and oral communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers in a team-oriented environment and with partners on campus and in the community.

Ability to represent SARC and its programs to others in a professional, positive, and courteous manner.

Awareness of their own attitudes, beliefs, biases, and assumptions about others, and the ability to manage their own behavior to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment for all.

Demonstrated understanding and ability to address issues of societal and institutional oppression through educational presentations. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fact paced environment.

Commitment to collaborating with campus and community partners.

Familiarity with sexual assault; understands the intersectionality between sex-based and race-based harm and violence.

Awareness of sexual assault and sexual harassment federal, state, and university policies.

Required Post-Training Position Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Certified victim advocate in accordance with MT state annotated code, or be willing/available to undergo 40-hour victim advocate training.

UM Allies trained or be willing/available to attend a UM Allies training.

Training in DEI or willingness to attend UM DEI training. Technical assistance training as required by the OVW Campus Grant Program.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with diverse populations.

Experience in qualitative and quantitative research, strategic planning, and managing grant-funded programming.

Experience with giving presentations/public speaking.

Position Details

Position is three-quarter time, .75 FTE, Letter of Appointment contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Position is funded from a grant for three years.

Salary:

$54,000 annually at .75 FTE = $41,715
