Position DescriptionThis is a Part- Time position.
The Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a Research Technologist II to support the new and ongoing research studies being performed in the division. The Research Technologist II will process clinical and research samples daily according to the established protocols, as well as perform quality control activities to ensure accurate and dependable results. This includes pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing activities related to PCR testing for atypical pneumonia, tickborne infections and COVID-19. As part of the laboratory team, the Medical Technologist will problem solve issues arising with the lab instruments, controls, or samples, in addition to assisting with developing new clinical and research testing procedures in response to any new activity in the lab. As new studies are added, or as processes are streamlined, the Research Technologist II will need to communicate with other lab and research staff to ensure best practices are being followed for specimen collection and transportation. This position requires attention to detail, organization of multiple simultaneous process, and an understanding of how the laboratory is an essential component in the clinical research process.
