Preferred Qualifications

Preferred experience includes use of a CRM (PeopleSoft/WorkDay), ERA (Cayuse/iRIS), and HelpDesk (JIRA) systems. 

Position Description

The Research Administrative Systems Analyst will support the development, implementation, and delivery of high-quality electronic systems to the University of Louisville research community. The position will deliver a variety of system support capabilities, including customer support, system utilization, system integration, enhancement, and security, and the development of research reporting and business intelligence tools. This position works collaboratively with the Research Systems Manager, IT, and campus customers to maintain campus research systems.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, customer centric user support and troubleshooting for designated research systems (e.g., Cayuse and iRIS) and other institutional systems used to administer research/sponsored programs (e.g., Peoplesoft, Workday, Data Warehouse). Communicate all system issues to appropriate stakeholders and ensure effective resolution and end user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Research Systems Manager, ITS, and vendors to support planning, implementation, and communication of system upgrades and assist users in utilizing new functionality.  Provide direct attention and responsiveness to all system outages (as necessary).
  • Support the development and maintenance of system integrations and interfaces, including monitoring and addressing issues with data exchange/load between systems.  Proactively participate in integration design and implementation ensuring data integrity and delivery upon implementation.
  • Act as a customer support systems liaison for users/Office of Research & Innovation leadership, understanding business needs and use and developing/delivering system solutions that drive operational efficiencies.  Assist in the development and implementation of system enhancement requests.  Ensure new system processes/procedures occur as anticipated, including maintaining run controls for daily processes within financial systems.
  • In collaboration with Research Systems Manager, implement and maintain research system access roles and security.  Develop processes for ensuring system roles/security are effective and kept up to date.
  • Proactively and reactively/ad hoc manner develops and deliver query capabilities for all research systems to fulfill data delivery, integration, and reporting needs.  Oversee the delivery of automated reports in alignment with required timelines and proactively troubleshoot reporting issues as they occur.
  • Understand and utilize in-system reporting capabilities and institutional business intelligence and analytics platforms to deliver data in various forms (reports, automated dashboards, visuals, etc.) that provide performance updates, facilitate operational efficiency/effectiveness, and drive informed business decisions.  Integrate data from various systems to develop reporting tools that facilitate a transition to a data-driven environment and that help users solve problems.  
  • Understand and appreciate system and data security practices and build tools and solutions that promote the secure, yet efficient delivery of information to end users. 
  • Act as the assigned backup for the Research Systems Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.
