The Department of Human Ecology at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Fashion & Textiles

with a focus on merchandising and retailing beginning Fall 2023. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.

The Fashion and Textiles program, housed in the Department of Human Ecology, includes concentrations in design and merchandising, and it also offers a one-year visiting student program with the Fashion Institute of Technology. The Department of Human Ecology offers programs in Human Development & Family Studies, Nutrition & Dietetics, Fashion & Textiles, and Food Service & Restaurant Administration. Duties include but are not limited to: teaching undergraduate merchandising courses and other courses to meet department needs; advising and mentoring students enrolled in fashion & textiles; participating in program assessment and continuous improvement efforts; serving the department, college, and profession; and engaging in scholarly, professional, and college activities.

Base Salary:

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in fashion merchandising, retail, or a related field.

Preferred:

fashion industry experience; evidence of scholarship; evidence of student advisement; strong written communication and presentation skills; and experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
