Job Description:
The Counseling Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Counselor. This is a full-time, permanent position with an 11 month obligation.
The mission of the SUNY Oneonta Counseling Center is to provide counseling and education in support of students' academic goals. In service of this mission, the SUNY Oneonta Counseling Center offers an integrative model of care to help students cope with current stressors and challenges as well as develop habits and skills for supporting their mental health. The Counseling Center is committed to cultivating an atmosphere of appreciation for diversity for all students, interns and Counseling Center staff. In addition to providing individual and group counseling, consultation and outreach, the Counseling Center also provides training and supervision for two full-time doctoral interns yearly and is an APA-accredited training program. Duties include but not limited to: providing psychological services to students including brief individual and group counseling, crisis intervention and referral to psychiatric and/or specialized mental health resources as needed; developing and implementing outreach programming to campus; serving as consultant and educator to students, faculty, and staff.
Requirements:
Required qualifications: master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field; mental health licensure or license eligible in New York State; two years' experience providing individual or group counseling.
Preferred: licensed in New York State; clinical experience providing short-term mental health treatment; experience in a higher education setting; experience facilitating group therapy; experience developing and facilitating outreach programs; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
