seeks qualified individuals to apply for the
Lead Instructor
position within the
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program
. The Lead Instructor will work with the Missoula College Director of Trades Education and CDL Program Manager to deliver programming with the goal to prepare students to successfully pass the Montana State Examination for a Type 1 Certification - Class A Commercial License. The instructor will also assist the CDL Program Manager in curriculum development and design, student recruitment, student retention, and student placement. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining the Missoula College CDL program equipment through regular inspections and service maintenance.
The Missoula College CDL Program Lead Instructor may be involved in the recruitment, hiring, management, and supervision of other staff and additional Instructors as they are added to the team.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $75,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, (or equivalency), and two (2) years of experience working as a Commercial Drivers License Instructor or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possesses a current and ‘in good standing’ Montana Type 1 Certification - Class A Commercial License.
Experience working as a commercial truck driver within the past ten (10) years.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Competent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and standard office equipment.
Knowledge of best practices in commercial truck driving instruction.
Knowledge of maintaining tractor rigs and trailers.
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Knowledge of best practices in instruction/teaching for adult populations.
Ability to multi-task and function in a diverse setting,
Ability to meet new challenges and opportunities
Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

Areas of study include business, culinary, legal studies, healthcare professions, information technology, industrial and construction technology. An Associate of Arts general education program is also available to students desiring a transfer degree for a baccalaureate degree program. Most programs begin in the fall with some programs offering spring entry. Students completing two and three-semester programs in the career and technical programs earn a Certificate of Applied Science degree, while students completing four-semester programs earn an Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Art, or Associate of Science degree. Workforce education is offered through not-for-credit training or credit training that may result in a badge or micro credentials.
