Profile

For April 19th until the end of the '22-'23 school year we are seeking a special educator to teach content classes at ONTOP, an alternative education program in the Burlington School District, for primarily 9th – 12th graders. The program is designed to meet the needs of students who struggle with behavioral, social and emotional expectations in traditional school settings.  A candidate must be licensed to fulfill special education case manager responsibilities  and

be licensed, or the HQT equivalent, in middle and high school math, social studies or science in order to teach four content classes a day.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to supervise para educators, be able to take initiative in implementing programs in response to the students' social, emotional and behavioral challenges  and show strong collaboration skills with colleagues, families and mental health providers.

Will prioritize those candidates with a proven record working successfully in secondary alternative programs with a focus on behavior management and a trauma informed approach to education.  

Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Vermont - Special educator
