Position Description:

Under the guidance of the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of the International Center, the International Coordinator Admissions is responsible for implementing the University's international recruitment strategy, with the primary focus of growing international undergraduate enrollment. The position is the initial point of contact for many prospective students and applicants, requiring a great deal of collaboration and information sharing with stakeholders across campus.

The International Coordinator Admissions is the first point of contact for perspective international students and will guide these students through the admissions process. The Coordinator Admissions will travel, primarily internationally and some local events, to represent the University of Louisville at recruitment/education fairs, high schools, recruitment and government agencies, and partner institutions. The Coordinator Admissions will discuss policies/procedures required for international admission, housing, scholarships/financial aid with international prospective students, families, and counselors. Demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in prospect development, yield enhancement activities, information services and problem resolution. Developing and maintaining an active International Recruitment Plan is required and constant communication strategies to reach students will be needed to be successful within this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stay current on recruitment trends (degree, occupational, economic) within the US and globally to assist with increasing international enrolment.
  • Work closely with the AVP for the International Center to develop and implement a strategic plan for recruitment for international students.  This includes international recruitment efforts both domestically and abroad.
  • Work closely with the AVP for the International Center to build and maintain a productive agent-based recruitment network.
  • Develop and conduct training for agencies, focusing on the international admissions process and requirements, and providing information about arrival and orientation dates, airport pick-up information, housing, and pre-arrival information.
  • Create and disseminate a quarterly newsletter for agents, keeping them connected to UofL.
  • Serve as official representative of the University of Louisville to perspective students, agencies and governmental representatives.
  • Participate in international recruitment fairs (both in-person and virtually).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to inform them of international recruitment activities, providing guidance as necessary.  This includes, but is not limited to, schools and colleges, academic departments, the Office of Admissions, and the Graduate College.
  • Serve as the International Center's primary liaison with the Office of Admissions and regularly attend Office of Admissions meetings.
  • Follow-up with prospective students in a timely manner.
  • Provide prospective students with accurate information about the international admissions process and requirements, housing, scholarships/financial aid, campus safety, and employment opportunities during and after graduation.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan for prospective students (and their families/sponsors) and maintain effective communication throughout the recruitment and application process.
  • Perform academic credential evaluations of prospective international student files, as needed. 
  • Conduct interviews and parent meetings, as needed.
  • Advise admitted students on the visa application process and required documentation.
  • Collaborate with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) staff to provide comprehensive pre-arrival information.
  • Collaborate with ISSS to design and deliver a comprehensive international student orientation and other cultural adjustment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the International Center's Coordinator for Marketing and Customized Programs to develop both print-ready and digital collateral for international student recruitment.
  • Generate recruitment and international admissions reports.
  • Serve on the University's International Recruitment Committee (IRC).
  • Supervise a team of international student ambassadors and potential graduate assistant, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Data Analytics, or Higher Education
  • Five years of related experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience with technology (PeopleSoft, social media, MS office, SLATE or other CRMs, etc).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work within a diverse setting and contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Five years of related experience. 
  • Experience within international education and the recruitment of international students; specifically for an international office or in a college or university setting.
  • Experience recruiting in another country.
  • Experience working in international admissions.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft and Terra Dotta.
  • Experience with CRMs and marketing.  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting
  • Proficiency in a foreign language

  • Ability to work in a collegial and collaborative manner and serve as a productive member of the International Center team.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
