Job Description:
The Department of Residential Community Life at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for multiple positions as Residence Hall Directors to begin July 26, 2021. These will be full-time temporary appointments with a 10-month obligation. Expectations include coordination of residence hall community of over two hundred residents, emergency/crisis management, facility management/building administration, and social/educational programming.

Duties include but not limited to: living and working in the residence hall; supervision, training, and evaluation of 8-16 student Resident Advisors and additional work study front desk staff; emergency/crisis management for the entire residential community; teaching Peer Group Communication credit-bearing class; creating, developing and maintaining an inclusive community that is engaging, fosters growth, and helps students reach their desired potential; enforcement of policies and processes within the residential community (including acting as a hearing officer); personal support and group advisement; updating and maintaining collegiate databases; managing occupancy within the building community; department committee involvement; campus-wide duty rotation; and some evening and weekend responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
Required qualifications: bachelor's degree by time of appointment; residence life experience; demonstrated excellence in written communication and presentation skills; educational programming/event management experience.
Preferred: master's degree by time of appointment; previous supervisory experience; competencies around social justice and inclusion; crisis and emergency management experience; experience with community standards hearings (conduct hearings); experience with facility management; experience with conflict management; experience with Maxient and StarRez; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
