Position Description:

The Department of General Dentistry, Division of Dental Pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry (ULSD) invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor Open Rank faculty position in Pediatric Dentistry. The Division of Pediatric Dentistry is nationally recognized for clinical and academic excellence.

This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on/retention bonus. This position may be eligible for a loan repayment program as part of a grant established by Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA).

This position has the opportunity to be probationary/tenure track or tenure depending on qualifications and past experience. Applicants must possess a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A Kentucky limited academic dental license may be available for qualified candidates. Candidates must have completed a formal training program in Pediatric Dentistry, preferably from a CODA­ accredited institution, or possess a Master or PhD in Pediatric Dentistry. Candidates who are Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry are preferred. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 Responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of graduate Pediatric Dentistry residents and/or dental students, scholarly activity, and service.  Faculty practice opportunities are available. 

The applicant should have demonstrated excellence in clinical and didactic teaching, an ongoing commitment to dental education and service, and evidence of scholarly activity. Candidates with proven teaching experience including course directorship are preferable. A proven ability to conduct research, such as the attainment of a PhD, and evidence of mentoring students of all levels is also highly desirable. Both clinical and tenure-accruing opportunities may be considered for appropriately qualified applicants.

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide pre-clinical instruction and supervise clinical student learning experiences at both the Pre-and Post-doctoral level.
  • Participate in didactic instruction in pediatric content areas, perform student assessments, and take part in faculty calibration and development in pre-clinical and clinical areas at both the Pre-and Post-doctoral level.
  • Engage in service activities in the University, the community, and with national organizations.
  • Have the experience, willingness, and potential to be successful in achieving tenure.
