Position Description:

The University of Louisville School of Nursing is seeking a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner for a 100% clinical practice position within the UofL Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine Central Station office. The Central Station office is conveniently located on Central Avenue near Churchill Downs Racetrack. This practice provides the full scope of primary care services to infants, children, adults, and the older adult populations with a payor mix of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. This position will be a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This clinical practice position will include the primary care of children and adults. Responsibilities will include:

Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures.
Providing health promotion, prevention, and treatments to patients
Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and minor injuries
Prescribing medications as needed for the plan of care.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
Document all patient interactions in an accurate and timely manner.
Effectively communicate with diverse populations
Work within an interprofessional team in a professional and respectful manner and refer patients to consulting health care providers when appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

Master's or Doctoral Degree as a Nurse Practitioner
Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
License (or ability to attain) a Kentucky APRN license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
2 years' experience working as an APRN.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree as a Nurse Practitioner
4 years' experience as an APRN in primary care
