Components Laboratory

 

Hoxworth Blood Center is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform various complex laboratory procedures in the Components Laboratory including preparation of red blood cells platelet concentrates, plasma and cryoprecipitate from volunteer whole blood collections and leukocyte reduction procedures.  This is a highly regulated laboratory where the candidate must successfully pass a competency exam after training is complete and every year thereafter. 

 

Desired competencies include effective communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and customer service.  Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working 3rd shift, weekends, and holidays. 

 

Hoxworth Blood Center is owned and operated by the University of Cincinnati. Hoxworth Blood Center is one of the oldest Blood Centers in the United States of America and is dedicated to the promotion of research and education in transfusion medicine and cell therapies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED equivalent.  

 

This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
