ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Department of Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator.  HBC is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States.  It currently consists of five faculty (four with primary appointment in HBC) with clinical, educational and research responsibilities and is expanding to include other four faculty members with different levels of research responsibilities.  HBC activities are supported by approximately 275 staff. The department has NIH, DoD, BARDA funded research programs as well as multiple pharma-sponsored research projects. HBC also administers the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine (BB/TM) fellowship, and the Cell Therapy track of the UC College of Allied Health Sciences Medical Sciences Master Program.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

This position will perform, manage, and lead activities to expand research and scholarship opportunities to all faculty through broadcasting opportunities provided by different media sources. A harmonizing approach and/or framework will be implemented to integrate the missions of clinical care, education, and research to ensure a united focus for all faculty and staff and will interact with the Education and Administration coordinators. The position networks with the Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) Research Division and reports to the HBC Academic Unit Director.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Supervises the portfolios for the HBC Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) Committee and coordinate the committee activities as required by the UC CoM faculty guidelines and credentialing agencies and/or State Boards. *Oversees the solicitation and follow-up of recommendation letters required for Faculty being appointed or promoted. This process includes preparation and forwarding requests, creating log sheets to monitor responses, fielding inquiries from reviewers, follow-up and review. *Serves as liaison to and information resource for internal and external inquiries and responds to requests from outside credentialing institutions seeking verification of current and/ or former faculty appointments. This position also inputs new transactions/information into the faculty database and edits existing information as necessary and works with the Academic Unit Director on monthly reports and supporting documents to confirm and transmit information on approved Faculty transactions. *Assists with the submission of grant/contract applications to the Federal Government and other sponsor agencies through UC and UC CoM Sponsored Programs. *Assists with budget preparation as required by the funding agencies and maintenance of updated CVs/NIH biosketches/Other Support documents as required. *Submits timely annual reports to funding agencies and ensures the fulfillment of all the responsibilities associated with the post-award grant process.   *Assists in the preparation of journal articles, conference presentations, and posters for submission. *Monitors compliance and Human Subject/HIPAA training for research subjects. *Coordinates HBC housed projects or programs using UC web-based information to support scholars.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

*Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

*Knowledge of program management and development procedures. *Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting. *Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office. *Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams. *Excellent time-management and organizational skills. *Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. *Detail-oriented and efficient.
