JOB OVERVIEW

The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM) is made up of world-class faculty and staff and conducting research in molecular toxicology & genetics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, and public health. The department's Division of Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology (EGMT) is seeking to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Molecular Toxicology at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level (rank commensurate with credentials and experience). New faculty will find an outstanding environment for conducting independent and collaborative research within the department via interactions with faculty in the UCCOM, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), and Cincinnati Veteran's Hospital Medical Center. The appointee will have the opportunity to become a member of the NIH/NIEHS funded P30 Center for Environmental Genetics (CEG), NIH/NCATS funded Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training, and the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center. These Centers and the Department offer a supportive environment and numerous interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities to conduct state- of-the-art basic, translational, and clinical research in reproductive toxicology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Participate in graduate and post-doctoral training and provide service to the Department and the College. *Conduct research focused on the genetic, epigenetic, immunological, or signal transduction pathways involved in the response to environmental chemical exposures using cellular and animal models with the potential for clinical relevance.   *Maintain a track record of R01 grant funding from NIEHS or any NIH institute. *Lead an active research program aligned with investigators in the division of Environmental Genetics and Molecular  Toxicology,  the  current  NIEHS  P30  Center  for  Environmental  Genetics,  and  the  planned  NIEHS Superfund Research Program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have a PhD in Toxicology or a related field of life sciences.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

The candidate should have strong potential to be a leader in the field of molecular toxicology. Research focus on reproductive toxicology and developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) will be considered a strength. Senior level applicants should have an established record of continuous extramural funding and excellence in independent and collaborative hypothesis-driven research, teaching, mentoring, and service in their area of specialty. Junior level applicants should have demonstrated productivity and strong potential for independent hypothesis-driven and collaborative research, teaching, and the ability to obtain extramural federal funding. All applicants should have excellent communication skills. Preference will be given to those investigating the role(s) of environmental toxicants relevant to the mission of the National Institute of Environmental health Sciences (NIEHS).
