Academic Advisor Jobs description
An academic advisor is responsible for maintaining and providing accurate information on colleges, certificates, diplomas, university transfers, and other educational programs. An academic advisor advises students on the development of educational plan options and resources available, and makes appropriate referrals to assist students in evaluation of their educational progress.Preferred qualification for an academic advisor job is a bachelor’s or master’s degree in counseling or related field, or successful completion of a counseling course offered by colleges or universities. An academic advisor should have 1 or 2 years of experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity. Experience in academic advising or teaching experience in a college or school is a plus. An academic advisor should be proficient in the use of computers and should have basic knowledge on MS Office applications. It is important for an academic advisor to have good communication skills.
