urban institution of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year

College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative

and media arts and business is currently searching for an Interim Station Operations Manager.Under the direction of the Department Chairperson, the

Television Station Manager is responsible for managing student staff in

day-to-day operations of the Columbia College Television Station. This includes

production, distribution, and facilities operations. This position involves

collaboration with all department personnel in the production of programs that

are directly or indirectly related to the television station. The position

involves a high level of decision making within prescribed policies and procedure

and frequent contact with students and faculty.

 

Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage student staff in day-to-day operations of the

station. This includes but not limited to: Supervise students in the

development of original content. Develop outlets for departmental student work.Advise student workers on the creation and scheduling

of weekly programming on website.Supervise student workers in managing and maintaining

master control facilities for playback of content in buildings and on website.Develop and coordinate student productions. Help

student workers plan appropriately for projects including schedules, crew, and

equipment. Manage student staff schedules, duties, and paperwork.Ensure students stay within budgeted work hours.Facilitate collaborative projects with other

entities within the Media Hub including the Chronicle and WCRX, in conjunction

with staff and faculty managers and student staff.Provide volunteer opportunities for interested

students.Ensure programming meets content and quality

standards, as established by the Department, in line with college policy.Assist with the maintenance of departmental program

video content library.Engage faculty and staff in offering training

workshops for student workers.Explore potential client-based projects.Work with department faculty and staff concerning

special events production planning and execution.Work with coordinators and faculty advisor to facilitate

curricular collaborations with classroom projects.Attend shoots as appropriate.Perform other duties

and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.

','!*!Bachelor’s degree in Television or related industry

experiencePrior teaching experience at the college level plus 3 or more

years’ experience in all aspects of video production and broadcast producing.Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including

Outlook, Excel and Word; knowledge of proprietary database systems.Strong teamwork and team synergy skills required.Knowledge of / experience with television genres,

especially broadcast / infotainment / public affairs programming.Supervisory skills.Ability to relate

effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other campus constituents,

including a strong understanding of, commitment to, and tangible advocacy of

inclusion and diversity.
