PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Rank: Assistant Professor Level, Nursing - Anticipated base salary is $62,838 - $84,665
. The appointment salary is based on one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure. Candidates are therefore advised that it is unlikely the offered salary will be at or near the top of the range.
THE PRACTICAL NURSING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM:
The Practical Nursing Certificate (PNC) program, operating under the Nursing Department, is composed of three dedicated full-time faculty members, which includes the nursing program coordinator. With a strong emphasis on teaching and learning excellence, the faculty is committed to nurturing excellence for nursing practice among students. As a result, the PNC program has an exceptional reputation in the community and produces graduates who surpass national pass rates. You can find the PNC program located in Northampton, MA.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the general direction of the Dean of Nursing, the Practical Nursing Coordinator provides academic and general administrative leadership of the Practical Nursing Certificate (PNC) education program. This role is responsible for day-to-day operation of the PNC program, collaborating with faculty on the design and delivery of the curriculum, and serving as liaison regarding space and equipment for the program. A successful candidate for this role will be comfortable in supporting both full time or adjunct faculty and staff including, but not limited to, recruiting, orienting, training, and directing department members. Tasks include coordinating academic requirements with outside clinical agencies and maintaining currency of clinical agreements, as well as writing and submitting accreditation and yearly program assessment reports in coordination with the Dean. Teaching responsibilities in the PNC program include classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in the Program. This role will also provide academic advisement for approximately 18 PNC students. Teaching schedule is accommodated to meet MCCC workload requirements for Program Coordinator workload.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Day to day operation of the PNC program as described under general statement of duties
Administrative duties related to supervision of an off-site program (for example: budget, admissions, clinical contact, orientation, and graduation in coordination with the Dean of Nursing)
Directs and teaches students in nursing courses of various content areas in college classrooms and clinical agencies
Evaluates student achievement of course outcomes
Provides support to full time faculty and part-time instructors
Advises nursing students
Serves as a professional role model
Develops and reviews the educational philosophy, purposes and objective of the program
Organizes, develops, and evaluates the nursing curriculum in collaboration with faculty
Reviews and keeps systematic program evaluation and updates with faculty as required by accrediting agencies
Develops with collaboration with faculty program and course objectives
Evaluates course and program outcome achievement
Maintains records and reports in accordance with established policies
Participates in recruitment of nursing students
Maintains scheduled office hours
Maintains collegial relationships
Continues professional study and education
Serves on relevant committees (as elected or appointed)
Attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional and college meetings
Maintains current professional liability insurance and current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of MA
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:
RN licensure in Massachusetts.
Master's Degree in Nursing
Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience within the last 8 years
Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing education
Experience in working with the assessment of nursing instruction, nursing accreditation and/or state regulatory agencies
Experience in working with other healthcare professionals
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND APTITUDES:
Deep technical administrative skills and computer proficiency
Sufficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge and use of program outcome assessment measures and processes
Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body
Proven record of professional education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven successful community college teaching experience
Experience with curriculum development and/or test item writing
Experience facilitating groups or managing projects
Experience in working with and supporting unionized faculty in an academic setting
Proven experience in implementing cultural competence standards in curriculum of nursing education
Experience in evaluating nursing programs and recommending changes where needed
Applicants may be asked to present a teaching demonstration. Must provide proof of certain mandatory immunizations, documentation, and certifications as a condition of employment.
Some travel will be necessary.
