Supervises and provides leadership and direction for transformative learning and technology innovation efforts across York County School Division. The Associate Director will work with internal and external teams using research-based best practices to expand capacity for leadership, instruction, and innovation through sustained professional learning and curriculum development. The Associate Director will serve as the day-to-day lead of the Department of Defense Education Activity Military-Connected Academic and Support Program Grant.
Postgraduate professional certificate with an endorsement in school administration plus completion of courses at the graduate level pertinent to the assignment. Three years experience as a principal preferred.
Demonstrated, in a public school system, ability to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community to lead innovation.
Considerable knowledge of current changes and developments in curriculum, instruction, and educational technology.
Expertise in integrating digital tools for instruction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Professional knowledge with a public school system necessary for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community. Considerable knowledge of current changes and developments in instructional programs and educational technology.
Ability to supervise employees.
Experience in leading high-quality professional development
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Director of Secondary Instruction
Directs and manages grant pertaining to Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs. Researches current educational technology integration developments and provides leadership in bringing pertinent innovative technology integration practices into the schools.
Coordinates professional development to enhance the capacity of teachers to support transformative learning and technology integration where students work with a variety of devices.
Coordinates the design of performance tasks, including checklists and rubrics, through which students make a difference, experience a sense of ownership, and transform the learning of others.
Serves as division liaison to the transformative learning advisory board and corporate partners.
Coordinates contractual services and purchasing of materials, equipment and resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
Three-year grant funded position. Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
