Coordinator of Student Organizations','180000AA','!*!The Coordinator of Student
Organizations reports to the Director of Student Organizations and
Leadership. Responsibilities include
supervising student worker personnel and front-desk operations, advising the
Student Organization Council (SOC), maintaining departmental webpages and
student leader database; coordinating departmental events; training student
leaders, and collaborating with departments across the institution to enhance
student academic experience and strengthen involvement. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
supervise and evaluate student staff. Supervise front
desk operations. Advise the Student Organization Council and the 3
executive board members who manage the responsibilities and funding allocation
for each student group.Oversee the recognition process for student
organizations; develop and facilitate a comprehensive training program for
student organization members.Assist in providing guidance to student organizations
as they plan, organize, and deliver events and activities. Required to work one evening per week and occasional
weekend responsibilities as needed.Provide leadership for student organization advisors
and advise the Student Organization Council.Evaluate and update the student organization handbook
and other vital student organization documents.Implement recruiting and marketing strategies to
promote student organizations.Coordinate the involvement of student organizations in
college wide programs including Student Organization Expo, Convocation, Admitted
Student Days and Manifest. Plan and execute departmental programs including The
Student Recognition Dinner, Block Party, and Columbia Weekend. Maintain departmental and student organization
webpages. Maintain departmental social media outlets.Represent the department on committees as needed. Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as
needed.','!*!Bachelor’s Degree required.
Master’s Degree preferred in Higher Education, College
Student Personnel, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of
full-time experience in campus activities, leadership and/or student
involvement at an institution of higher education. Experience in program and
event management preferred. Ability to manage the daily
operations of the office. Demonstrated knowledge of
Student Affairs, student organization advisement and leadership development theory.Experience supervising student
workers with ability to assign work, and train staff.Ability to interact
effectively with students, faculty, staff and community members of diverse
backgrounds.Ability to multi-task and
give attention to detail. Excellent written, verbal
and interpersonal communication skills.
