Description of Duties:
Under limited general supervision, the L4GA Birth to Five Literacy Program Specialist will work with the L4GA team to develop and implement the L4GA program. The primary function of this position is to support districts implementing their birth to five literacy plans and includes training pre-k teachers on project assessments as well as evidenced-based literacy instruction that is based on the science of reading and is developmentally appropriate. This position will report to the Literacy for Learning, Living and Leading Project Director. Statewide travel will be required. ***Submit a copy of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification. Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered.***
Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Master’s degree in education, early childhood education, reading or a related field and three years of full-time experience teaching pre-k, reading, and/or elementary education programs
• 3-5 years of experience as a school literacy coach or instructional assistant principal or principal in an early childhood/elementary setting
• Experience of at least five years teaching GA pre-k or k-3 literacy
• Experience supervising professional staff as a pre-k director
• Experience in a leadership role in k-12 public education at a state, regional, system level or school level
• Experience training adult learners, excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience with outcome, formative and summative literacy assessment data
Pay Grade N – Annual salary range $52,331.12 (minimum) to $91,579.45 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience.
