; it is a job for an experienced professional with substantive policy experience interested in growing and supporting a technology and communications policy program.

The CTI Program oversees several major initiatives including:

Communications and Society programming that spans over 45 years promoting integrated, thoughtful, values-based decision making in the fields of communications, media, and information policy. Its roundtable forums and other projects aim to improve democratic societies and diverse organizations through innovative, multi-disciplinary, values-based policy-making. These include policy projects on journalism, telecommunications, internet, social media, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and an upcoming project on attention and democracy. These projects address governance issues, civil liberties, ethical considerations, equity, inclusion, diversity, and institutional innovation.

The Aspen Cybersecurity Group, co-chaired by former White House Homeland Security Advisor Lisa Monaco, Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), and IBM Chairman, President, and CEO Ginni Rometty, which includes 35 leading cyber thinkers, and works specifically to develop cyber talent and the tech workforce, improve operational collaboration, and address the challenges of ensuring confidence in emerging technologies.

The Center for Urban Innovation, which connects, guides and catalyzes city leaders, technologists, activists and others to develop values-based policies and practices around new urban technologies so that these technologies enable all city residents to flourish.

The Aspen Tech Policy Hub, a San Francisco-based policy incubator that uses its unique in-residence fellowship program, mixing the best of both Washington and Silicon Valley, to bring together stakeholders in policy and technology to train the next generation of policy entrepreneurs.

The @aspencyber journalism initiative, which aims to highlight, illustrate, and amplify key policy challenges in the tech and cyber arena through explanatory, collaborative reporting, as well as to train journalists in key policy debates and technical skills necessary to better explain the complexities of these challenges to the public and policy-makers.

The annual Aspen Cyber Summit, as well as other public and private events focused on the intersection of innovation and security, on topics such as emerging technologies and IoT, cyber deterrence and geopolitical tensions in outer space, the tech talent pipeline, and corporate leadership in the digital age.

The Dialogue on Public Libraries, which looks to the future of public libraries as trusted hubs in their localities where individuals can learn, gather, and engage broader communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The CTI Executive Director, based full-time in Washington, D.C. at the Institute’s headquarters, works with CTI Directors to develop strategy and funding for program activities and administration.
