Description:
We are looking for an inspirational individual to join the well-established, progressive Paramedic team at the University of Plymouth. Working within the team provides a unique opportunity to contribute to teaching, learning and research within the Paramedic Science degree (ranked 3rd in the complete university guide, league table for paramedic science). As a lecturer at the University of Plymouth, you will deliver excellent teaching, contribute to the generation and transfer of knowledge through research, and provide support for our students. The position will require teaching and assessment at all stages of undergraduate and postgraduate study. One of the strengths of our Faculty is the interprofessional learning opportunities for students, so you will be required to teach across disciplines across the School of Health Professions and Faculty. Practice-based learning is at the heart of the programme and we anticipate the candidate will be heavily involved in supporting practice placement activity. You will be a registered professional with appropriate academic and/or professional experience, preferably from a paramedicine or nursing background, or other appropriate profession. You will have an in-depth understanding of contemporary emergency and urgent care provision and be committed to quality education and research. You must currently be registered with the following registration board: Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC): excluding social workers in England. You will value your own professional development and ideally hold, or be working towards a higher degree qualification. Paramedicine at the University of Plymouth: The School of Health Professions, University of Plymouth is delighted to offer this post to join the team to deliver this curriculum on one of the original BSc (Hons) Paramedic programmes in the UK. Our philosophy focuses on developing contemporary autonomous practitioners who have high quality professional and life-long learning skills. The approach to learning is skills development based on sound theoretical knowledge. We enjoy a strong partnership approach to inter-professional learning; therefore, a number of modules throughout the undergraduate programme are shared with a range of professional groups. The research potential within the School is extensive as we have collaboration possibilities within the Faculty of Health as well as other faculties at the university. The School of Health Professions is primarily situated at InterCity Place on the main University of Plymouth campus, in the city centre (next to the train station). There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information. You may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to any research being undertaken.
