Senior IT Technologist I, Mechanical, Aerospace & Biomedical Engineering','190000005I','!*!Senior IT Technologist I for Mechanical, Aerospace & Biomedical Engineering (Pay Grade 38) This position exists to provide technical support to all of Mechanical, Aerospace & Biomedical Engineering (MABE). MABE currently has >1,500 enrolled students, including over 100 PhD, 70 MS, and 1,300 undergraduate students in its three disciplines. Approximately 60 faculty and staff would be served by this position. Provides consultation to faculty and staff as to design, development, and implementation of technology equipment and resources for use in research labs, teaching labs, and office environments. Oversees new technology installation and maintenance for the department. Coordinates with outside vendors to implement new software for departmental use troubleshooting of operating systems and applications of software. Troubleshooting hardware problems down to the component level, if circumstances warrant. Providing redundant backups of departmental servers and other critical systems. Troubleshooting and maintenance of specialized equipment. Provides programming of technology equipment. Recommends the purchase of information technology equipment. Possesses both specific and universal knowledge in technical areas and knowledge of purchasing of equipment. Provides broad and specific technical guidance and direction to co-workers in solving complex level technical problems. Maintain and assist in classroom technology equipment. Coordinate yearly review of equipment inventory','!*!Minimum/Required qualifications are a high school diploma/Associates Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred); Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a computer hardware and software technical environment.  Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an academic environment.  1-3 years of experience working with computer controlled laboratory equipment Minimum 3 years in accounting, business or human resources role. Job Skills:  Expert in Mac and Windows hardware configuration, software installation and operating systems.  Rudimentary knowledge of Linux/Linux /Unix, operating systems, including servers. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and WordPress.  Working knowledge of computer networking and DNS/DHCP; experience with MS Office products for Windows and Mac; experience with e-mail clients.  Working knowledge of computer and network security principles and their implementation. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate, both written and orally.  Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
