Post-doctoral fellowship in Motor Adaptation

Boston University Motor Development Lab https:// www.bu.edu/motordevlab/

We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to examine how individuals’ bodies and environments influence walking and motor function across the lifespan. Our work aims to: 1)

develop novel systems approaches to optimize health outcomes in early childhood, 2)

design innovative interventions that minimize fall risks associated with childhood and adult obesity, and 3)

create new methods to detect fall risks linked with childhood and adult obesity. In doing so, we conduct studies on motor adaptation using gait as a model system and examine cognitive, neurological, and psychological factors associated with adaptation.

Required Skills

Eligible applicants should have earned a PhD or ScD in Occupational Therapy, Movement Science, Kinesiology, or Psychology. We seek applicants with high levels of organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Applicants should have a desire to work as a team member. Prior experience measuring walking kinematics (e.g., gait carpet, body worn sensors, etc.) is desirable. The post-doctoral fellow will be provided with opportunities to continue to hone in on professional development skills via publishing manuscripts, developing grant proposals, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

The position will be open until filled. This is a two-year appointment assuming successful progress toward goals. Review of applications will begin immediately.

If interested, please email a letter of interest, CV, and names of three references to: Simone V. Gill, PhD, OTR
