Boston University Industry Engagement is an exciting new function at the University that holistically addresses the needs of companies wishing to engage the University in Corporate Sponsored Research and Corporate Relations providing a bridge between industry and the research and educational domains of the University. In this role reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Director of Corporate Relations will execute efforts that lead to increased industry engagement in Boston University through corporate gifts and philanthropy. This role will develop and manage a portfolio of key corporate relationships and develop comprehensive annual engagement plans prepared in collaboration with corporate and university leadership spanning Industry Engagement, Development and Alumni Relations, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Career Services and others. The Director will work to identify both companies with strong current footprints on campus or industry leaders where the development of stronger relationships is desired. This position will work in collaboration with on campus partners to conceive of, design, and implement effective models for industry engagement that support the strategic priorities of Boston University.
â€¢ Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred. Five to eight years' work experience
â€¢ Entrepreneurial and dynamic individual with a commitment to advancing University/Industry strategic relationships and partnerships.
â€¢ Academic Corporate Relations, Development, and/or Fundraising experience with increasing levels of responsible scale and scope, success aligning corporate gift and philanthropy interests with University programs, and achievement establishing and securing valuable corporate partnerships required.
â€¢ Experience developing a portfolio of prospects and soliciting gifts aligned with University's programs and strategic goals.
â€¢ Capacity to think strategically and creatively. Ability to inquire about, listen to, and understand a companies needs, and expertise in determining how to market compelling benefits to that company.
â€¢ Excellent written and oral business communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to build relationships in a highly collaborative environment.
â€¢ Demonstrated record of leadership. Consultative and accessible leadership style, integrity, and managerial skills.
â€¢ Ability to gain credibility and trust with multiple layers of complex organizations from the University to corporations. Ability to interact in a professional and positive manner with all levels of staff. Excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
