SUMMARY

The University of Utah College of Nursing seeks an established, visionary scholar to fill the Claire Dumke Ryberg, R.N. Presidential Endowed Chair in End-of-Life/Palliative Care. The Endowed Chair primarily will teach end-of-life, palliative, and hospice care courses/course content, and/or provide clinical care, as well as advance the discovery, organization, transmission, and/or application of knowledge to improve the unique health care needs of patients near the end of life. The Endowed Chair is a 5-year tenure-line or career-line appointment, renewable upon successful review. Academic rank and salary for this full-time, 12-month appointment will be commensurate with qualifications.

CRITERIA

We seek a candidate who is a nationally recognized leader in end-of-life, palliative, and hospice care and whose accomplishments reflect excellence in teaching, delivering and/or coordinating clinical care, and conducting creative scholarship activities and/or research. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in nursing, and hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (

APRN

) license. The ideal candidate will have evidence of high impact publications or presentations and a sustained record of scholarly activities and/or research.

The Endowed Chair will join a cadre of committed faculty engaged in education, clinical practice, and scholarship and/or research. Key responsibilities will include teaching, developing curriculum, and/or chairing and serving on doctoral student committees; providing and/or consulting about clinical care, and leading innovative scholarly activities and/or research related to end-of-life, palliative, and hospice care. The Endowed Chair will mentor students, fellows, and junior faculty, and engage in professional service. Collaborating with other leaders, the Endowed Chair will advocate for services and public policy to improve end-of-life, palliative, and hospice care; and increase visibility within the university, community and nation for these specialty areas. There are opportunities to collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty across UHealth and the Academic campus, including the Consortium for Families and Health Research, Palliative Care Services, and the Center on Aging.
