Job Summary

The Lead Facilitator is responsible for leading the Training & Education team in the development of a comprehensive corporate training program to foster a culture of continuous learning and ensuring maximum effectiveness of the company's efforts. The incumbent's responsibilities include researching recommended trainings based on assessments needed to develop employees and align their development to business goals. This effort includes developing documentation and training content and materials to support multiple organizational project initiatives. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for working with multiple departments to provide an effective training plan as well as the ability to deliver training to end-users utilizing multiple media types.



Position Responsibilities:

• Designs and maintains course curriculum for beginner to intermediate complexity.
• Confers with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
• Creates, maintains, and manages small to medium training project plans.
• Develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media as needed.
• Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
• Consults with business partners to improve learning outcomes for both internal and external populations.
• Organizes training schedule dependent on the hiring and training demands of the organization.
• Develops, organizes and facilitates group training such as new employee orientation and other workshops.
• Manages the learning environment for classroom setup, systems setup, course materials, media and online learning.
• Collects, records and reports learning activities and employee progress using the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Formulates teaching outlines and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
• Selects or develops teaching materials such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, job aides and reference booklets.
• Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
• Monitors, evaluates, and takes accurate and adequate records of training activities by testing trainees, analyzing training evaluations and participant comments in order to measure progress, determine areas for improvement and evaluate effectiveness of trainings.
• Provides coaching to other employees who present or train throughout the organization, especially to programs delivered through the Human Resources department.
• Develops in-house training programs as assigned.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Possesses the Ability to:

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Have exceptional customer service, presentation, organizational, project management, and team-building skills.
• Manage projects on various training initiatives by organizing, planning, tracking, and directing the specific training project to completion.
• Utilize a variety of training methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practices, such as Kirkpatrick's four levels of evaluation, to ensure maximum effectiveness of training programs.
• Maintain confidentiality in regard to information processed, stored, or accessed by the system.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with CalOptima leadership and staff.
• Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) to produce correspondence, charts, reports, spreadsheets and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.

Experience & Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Liberal Studies, Communications, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Public Health, or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
• 5 years of experience in training and development with 3 years of experience facilitation required.
• 4 years of experience with Adult Learning Methodologies and eLearning required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certification(s) in training preferred.
• Familiarity with Medi-Cal/Medicaid preferred. Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) highly preferred.
• Working experience with authoring tools such as Captivate, Storyline preferred.
• Certifications in Crucial Conversation Master Dialogue and Accountability preferred.

Knowledge of:

• Current training trends and methods of delivery.
• Project management and time management skills.
• Adult learning concepts, training design, delivery and evaluation methods.
• Health care programs and related requirements at all levels; local, state and federal.
• Current trends and developments in health care, specifically Medi-Cal and Medicare.
