The North Carolina Arboretum seeks an enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented individual to support classes and events presented by the Adult Education program.
Responsibilities include learning and becoming proficient with the online education registration system to include inputting information, registration of students online during the business day, monitoring registration, and creating class rosters.
Additional responsibilities may include communicating with students prior to class regarding any requirements or changes and following-up after class to administer course evaluations; attending to instructor needs including preparing handout copies, assisting with set up and take down of classroom; and simple IT facilitation and troubleshooting.
The candidate will be committed to representing the Arboretum and its mission in courteous and consistent contact with the public in person, over the telephone and in responding to email inquiries. The successful candidate will assist in the production of the adult education catalog during the pre-design and editing process to ensure registration system, catalog text and instructor communications are in agreement. The candidate will have frequent contact with students in two certificate programs and assist with responding to requests and questions.
The position reports to the Adult Education Program coordinator.

The NC Arboretum is a 434-acre public garden located in Asheville, North Carolina that works to Cultivate Connections between People, Plants and Places.
The Adult Education department fulfills this mission by offering high quality learning opportunities through classes, certificate programs, continuing education and more.
SPA Minimum Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have a college degree in education, natural sciences, the arts or related field and demonstrate success in providing outstanding customer service.
Experience in a public setting such as a public garden, adult or continuing education program is recommended.
Display high degree of judgment, discretion and confidentiality.
Hiring Salary Range
The hiring salary will be $13 to $15 per hour for up to 11 months each year. This is considered a temporary position with the State of North Carolina. Benefits are not included with this role.
Up to 40 hours per week, varying schedule, generally Monday through Friday but with frequent weekend and evening hours, 11 months per year.

Preference will be given to applicants with considerable facility with Microsoft Office and Google Suite software; database management and data entry experience; data collection and analysis experience; and webpage and social media experience, including monitoring, maintaining and updating sites. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of self-motivation and attention to detail. Applicants should exhibit superior time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative, including knowledge and use of correct English grammar and punctuation.
