THIS IS A 100% GRANT FUNDED POSITION

The Research Development Specialist will work closely with the Associate VP for Research and Institutional Advancement to assist faculty and staff in developing applications for funding from government and private sources. This person assists faculty and staff in writing proposals for large- and small-scale projects, reviews and edits proposals, and assists in training faculty and staff in identifying funding opportunities, developing competitive proposals, and other aspects necessary for obtaining external funding. The Grant Development Specialist works with the Office of Sponsored Programs to ensure that proposals are in compliance with applicable laws and federal regulations relating to external funding of University research, instruction, and outreach programs.

The position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills. Word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills are required as is demonstrated knowledge and application of standard budgeting procedures. The successful candidates will have the ability to analyze information and research a variety of sources (including online sources) to locate information and resolve problems or issues. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and with limited supervision, and be comfortable managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.

A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Two years of administrative support experience including managing projects or complex processes is required. Experience writing and developing proposals for funding is preferred.
