Position Description: Assistant Professor (Clinical), Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. Full time, 12-month position beginning July 1, 2020. Responsible for providing direct patient-student supervision in the University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic; also, may be assigned to provide supervision in contracted off-campus facilities. In addition to clinical teaching, clinical faculty may be assigned to serve on departmental and university committees and may be assigned to teach academic courses at the discretion of the Department Chair. The University of Utah Speech-Language- Hearing Clinic is a national leader in educational and community-based practice. The Speech and Hearing Clinic is currently in an expansion phase with significant growth occurring in the past five years.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology.

and a valid Utah license (prior to starting the position).

3. At least 5 years of licensed clinical experience beyond the Clinical Fellowship. (1- 2 years or more of University supervision and/or teaching experience preferred).

4. Assessment and intervention experience in adult neurogenic communication disorders and swallowing disorders and experience in at least two additional areas including,

AAC

, voice disorders, fluency disorders, early intervention, preschool language disorders, pediatric feeding disorders, autism and/or school-age speech and language disorders.

5. Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, life-styles, sexual and gender orientations and treat everyone with respect and dignity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Clinical Supervision Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Clinical supervision of speech-language pathology graduate students in the U of U Speech-Language- Hearing clinic and contracted off campus facilities as assigned by the Clinic Director.

2. Supervise graduate students in development and completion of required clinical documentation (i.e.,

notes, progress reports, diagnostic reports, etc.).

3. Coordinate with Clinic Director and clinic staff to complete documentation required for third party billing and adhere to required deadlines.

4. Assist the Clinic Director in development and scheduling of assigned clinical caseload each semester.

5. Maintain compliance with departmental policies and

requirements regarding required minimum standards for observation/oversight of graduate student clinicians’ treatment and diagnostic activities.

6. Attend regularly scheduled clinical faculty meetings.

7. Attend continuing education activities to maintain

and Utah State licensure

requirements.

8. Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Director and/or Department Chair.

B. Department Duties/Responsibilities

1. Attend faculty meetings.

2. Serve on department committees.

3. Serve on University Committees.

4. Other duties (e.g., academic teaching) as assigned by the Department Chair.
