Description of the Job

As Senior Student Manager for Off Campus Student Services in University Student Commons and Activities, Student Managers provide exceptional customer service for all clients that visit or contact the office. They perform a variety of duties that require independent discretion, judgment and control over accuracy, neatness and timeliness within established guidelines and procedures. This position requires learning, knowledge and application of University and leasing policies and procedures. In addition, this position will support the mission of RamPantry by providing healthy, culturally appropriate emergency food to


students experiencing food insecurity. Student Managers will supervise volunteers, greet and provide instructions to


students, assist with data entry, collect and log donations, complete assigned projects while performing other duties as directed by



Provides friendly and professional customer service to callers and visitors to Off Campus Student Services.

Works independently, perform daily routine tasks without being reminded, follow direction, etc.

Provides consistent and reliable office coverage.

Returns phone calls and greet customers; ask routine questions to determine needed resources, make referrals, provide information on basic policies, procedures, office services and programs.

Completes general office operations, including copying, filing, faxing and other general clerical functions to support the operations of the office.

Tends to all assignments, projects and duties for day-to-day operations and events as needed.

Posts banners, and posters around campus.

Schedules appointments for staff as needed.

Facilitates presentations for students.

Assists with all Off Campus Student Services events.

Assists students with understanding the leasing process.

Other duties as assigned by faculty and staff in University Student Commons and Activities.

Required Qualifications

Eligible for Work Study through VCU’s Financial Aid Office. Demonstrated leadership ability, knowledge of food insecurity, ability to work with diverse students and staff and willingness to take initiative.

Friendly, professional, positive attitude and dedicated, detail-oriented work ethic.

Handle detailed work with high level of accuracy and efficiency

Ability to work independently and take initiative in a very busy, sometimes hectic, work environment.

Prior use and knowledge of personal computers, word processing and database software.

Ability to enter data into software with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Exhibit professionalism and friendliness in working directly with students and visitors.

Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of the University.

Willing to flex work schedule to support events and programs, if needed.

Follow through on tasks.

Prioritize and organize work.

Handle multiple tasks.

Demonstrate proficiency with various computer-related tasks.

Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.

Maintain a cumulative
