There are many different kinds of educators that work in the world today. Post secondary teachers are teachers who are focusing their talents on people who are already out of high school. This is a type of teacher that takes a lot of different education themselves, and who is responsible for making sure that people get a good quality education, no matter what type of education they are getting.

Job Duties

Post secondary teachers are teachers first and foremost. This means that they teach students the things that the students need to know. While elementary school teachers teach young children and high school teachers teach high school kids, post secondary teachers are teachers that teach students after they are finished with their regular schooling. They are responsible for making sure that the learning that goes on after high school is learning that is very important to the student.

The job duties of post secondary teachers are slightly different than those of other types of teachers. Their main duties include teaching the students the things that they need to know – but these things are very different than what other types of teachers would be doing. The main difference with post secondary teachers and with regular teachers is that while teachers in charge of doing regular teaching will be usually teaching a wide variety of subjects and ideas, the job of a post secondary teacher is much different. A post secondary teacher will teach usually one or maybe two subjects, and if they do teach more than one subject, the subjects will be related to each other in a certain way.

This means that instead of teaching all the English, math and science that a grade school class would need taught, the post secondary teachers are going to do things differently. A post secondary teacher would be certified to teach English at the post secondary level, and that is the entire subject that the teacher would teach. It is sometimes important to note that often post secondary teachers are going to be teaching one subject, but several different versions of it.

This has a lot to do with the types of learners that they are teaching. For instance, when a post secondary teacher is teaching Math, they are often going to be teaching students who are perusing a degree in math for one reason or another. This means that the teacher will need to teach math at several different degrees. They might need to teach several levels of algebra or calculus to students who are trying to obtain a post secondary math degree.

Who are they teaching?

When a post secondary teacher is teaching, he or she is teaching a wide variety of students. These are students who have already gone to high school and have finished high school. They might be students who are fresh out of school and are starting or finishing undergraduate work. But they also might be older students who are doing undergraduate work. Also, sometimes post secondary teachers teach students who already have an undergraduate degree and who are going for other types of degrees.

Sometimes, a post secondary teacher is not only teaching students who are looking for degrees. Sometimes they are teaching students who are looking for other types of certifications or degrees that might not be the same as the typical college degree.

Exact Duties

A post secondary teacher usually will be given an idea of what needs to be taught in the various classes that they are teaching. They will usually have an idea of some of the main points that they want to cover, and also the general goal that they would like the class to have or the direction that they would like to go it during the class. Then, the post secondary teacher will need to work hard to insure that these goals are met. He or she will be responsible for making lesson plans and dealing with the ways that the class should be taught. The teacher will need to decide what lessons they are going to teach, and then figure out how to best teach them. Then, the teacher will need to decide how they are going to assess the learning that has taken place. If the teacher decides to assign homework, they must collect it and grade it. For courses with exams, the teacher must find or write the exam, administer it, and then grade it to make sure that they know what their students have learned,

Education

Education is a big part of the job of a post secondary teacher – but it is also a big part of how they get to be where they are and what they are doing. A post secondary teacher must have two different forms of education. First of all, they must be educated in the subject that they are teaching. This means that if they are teaching the sciences, they themselves need to have a degree in them. Secondly, they need to have a degree in teaching itself. Most of the time, this can be obtained as an undergraduate degree. Often, a teacher must have some experience teaching as well, so that they can be sure they know what they are doing when it comes to teaching as a whole.

Experience

In order to be a post secondary teacher there is going to be some experience that is necessary. Often a teacher will get their PhD and then become a post secondary teacher because they now have the experience and education that is necessary to be a teacher.
