Professor Jobs
Professors teach in universities and colleges. They oversee the design and development of the curriculum, and deliver a range of programmes of teaching to students, in order to ensure teaching within the quality assurance framework of the college. Professors also lead the development and implementation of the college’s research strategy and co-ordinate research activity within the specific subject area.
Professors perform a wide gamut of duties that include: developing the quality assurance framework within the college’s overall framework, and student admission and assessment; transferring knowledge including practical skills, methods, and techniques; encouraging the development of innovative approaches to course design and delivery and ensure that teaching design and delivery comply with the quality and educational standards and regulations of the department.
While conducting teaching sessions, professors challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking. They supervise student projects, field trips, and sometimes placements.
Professors need to have superior communication skills. Unquestionable knowledge of the subject, patience, speech clarity, the ability to invoke participation from students, the ability to inspire students, giving constant feedback to students on how they can better their grades, offering career advice, taking the initiative to guide weak students, motivating students, generating interest in the subject, giving unbiased opinions, treating all students in a fair and just manner, and possessing a good sense of humor are some of the traits that make a successful professor.
