Nursing Education Jobs

Nursing education involves providing theoretical and practical training to nurses with the purpose to prepare them for their duties as nursing care professionals. Nurse educators are experienced nurses or medical professionals who are qualified to teach and prepare licensed practical nurses and registered nurses for entry into practice positions. Nurse educators also teach in graduate programs at Master’s and doctoral level which prepare advanced practice nurses, nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse researchers, and leaders in complex healthcare and educational organizations.
Nursing education today involves inter-professional education and the utilization of research to facilitate making clinical and managerial decisions, the aim being to develop a confident, inquiring graduate who contributes to the care team as an equal.
Nursing education professionals who teach in LPN, associate degree, and baccalaureate programs are required to hold a Master’s degree in nursing. Many nurse educators have a clinical specialty background that is often blended with coursework in education. Individuals, if they choose to enter a faculty role, may complete a post-Master’s certificate in education to complement their clinical expertise.
A nursing education job position may also refer to that of nursery nurses who assist qualified teachers in nursery, infant, or primary classes, and are employed by schools, day nurseries, family centres, hospitals, private nurseries, and in private households as nannies.
Here, the typical work activities will include: helping children with their learning, play, educational, and social development; feeding, washing, and cleaning young children; record keeping; and making and maintaining learning materials and resources.
