Library Assistant responsible for opening the HCC Library Mon-Fri., 7:45AM-1:15PM. Will provide services to students and faculty at the Library service desk. Works under the direction of the Access Services and Systems Librarian to maintain user records, process and collect fines and to circulate materials.
Checks library materials in and out and resolves problems that may arise. Collects overdue fines and clears user records. Provides library users with information regarding circulating materials, library policies and procedures and answers directional questions, both in person and over the phone. Refers users for research assistance, IT help and to other college departments as appropriate.
Communicates issues and problems via staff desk log to ensure timely follow-up; shelves library materials on a daily basis
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Associate's Degree.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Trustworthy
Flexible
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Previous experience in a library settting.
