About the Position: The position is located at the United States Military Academy Prep School, with motivated students in a year-long, post-high-school, developmental education program designed to prepare them for admission as freshmen to the 4-year undergraduate program at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. As of June 2011 the USMA Prep School will be co-located with the US Military Academy in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, this is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy, a Department of Public Works, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital, fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Points civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valleys premier performing arts center, and to recreational facilities.

Major Duties:
You will serves as Assistant Football Coach, and Instructor of Physical Education at the USMAPS. As assistant football coach you will be Special Teams Coordinator. Supervise up to three assistant coaches. Conduct meetings to designate staff responsibilities. Develop practice plans. Counsel/mentor football team members. Write evaluations and formal reports on their potential for success as a student/athlete at West Point. You will also coach Lacrosse or Track. As a Physical Education Instructor you will develop lesson plans. Perform research to support learning objectives. Select and use most appropriate teaching techniques. Develop special programs/courses to allow students to meet the physical requirements for the Army or West Point. Prepare supplementary teaching materials. Instruct courses in the physical education curriculum. Counsel students on their performance in physical education. Provide Tactical Officers and athletic department feedback on candidate performance.

General Schedule
This is a full-time, permanent appointment in the excepted service. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (with a master's degree or higher preferred) that included or was supplemented by major study in physical education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position or have a combination of education and experience (courses equivalent to a major in physical education or subject-matter field as above, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above). To be qualified, candidates for this position must show in their resume that they have experience equivalent to the GS-09 level demonstrating professional knowledge of learning theory and teaching methods in the field of physical education and knowledge of football, lacrosse, and track. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Experience/ability to coach football; 2) Experience/ability to coach defense and special teams 3) Ability to coach lacrosse and/or track.
