About the Position: The position is located at the United States Military Academy Prep School, with motivated students in a year-long, post-high-school, developmental education program designed to prepare them for admission as freshmen to the 4-year undergraduate program at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. As of June 2011 the USMA Prep School will be co-located with the US Military Academy in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, this is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy, a Department of Public Works, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital, fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Points civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valleys premier performing arts center, and to recreational facilities. Maintain accurate computer records of every treatment. Maintain required annual professional certification. Review unresolved Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) issues for incoming cadet candidates and develop a plan for each. Monitor injuries sustained and surgeries performed. Initiate and insure Medical liaison with West Point MEDDAC physicians, staff and faculty. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (with a master's degree or higher preferred) that included or was supplemented by major study in education, physical education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position (i.e. Allied Health field) or have a combination of education and experience (courses equivalent to a major in education or subject-matter field as above, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above). To be qualified, candidates for this position must show in their resume that they have experience equivalent to the GS-07 level demonstrating professional knowledge of learning theory and teaching methods in the field of physical education and knowledge of athletic training to include the ability to utilize proper athletic therapy , physical rehabilitation techniques, and taping/bracing techniques for the treatment of injuries Additionally required is a high level of knowledge and skill in the techniques of treatment including: ultrasound, electric stimulation, intermittent compression units, Biodex Isokinetic device, treadmill, stairmaster, hydrotherapy , and aquatic therapeutic devices.
