How to Obtain Your CDA License

Everywhere you look there are people using our vast educational resources to increase their skill set and by extension, their ability to be employed. If you like working with children, then obtaining a CDA license is a must. Like most certifications, there is a variety of steps, three to be exact. Like all education jobs and credentials that you need for such kind of jobs, there is a process. If you have never looked after children, you will need to follow a different path than if you are an experienced child supervisor.

If you are new to childcare and are looking to get your CDA License, you need to call the CDA Professional Preparation Program, or P3. They can set you up with a local accredited childcare facility to start your job education. You will work with an adviser at this position until you have accumulated enough hours. This is a great educational opportunity for your new job. Use this time to the best of your ability and take advantage of all educational opportunities. Jobs in education such as this should not be taken lightly. If you have any doubts about this career path, you will solve them at this stage.

The next step in the process is schooling. What's great about this system is that you get a chance see if this type of education job is for you, and trust me, it isn't for everyone. Once you have completed the practical side, the job education side is simple. You show up for a series of classes, have regular homework, and attend seminars. The key here is to stay consistent. If you hit every class and attempt all the work given, you should be prepared for the final exam.

If the education has gone well, and you've passed the exam, you are well on your way. There is an observation period, and a final evaluation that will seem redundant, but it is necessary. Don't be nervous and trust that what you have learned is right. There are many jobs in education, but you have chosen this one, and you should be proud of your choice. If you find yourself in anxiety over this part of the process, a friend or co-worker who has been through the process before you can be a lifesaver.

Education jobs all require experience in the field prior to certification and the CDA license is no exception. If you have enough experience (420 hours) and education (120 hours), then you will be able to move directly into the observation and final evaluation period of the licensing. The application process is the same, expect that the form packet you fill out is different, so be sure to be specific about which packet you desire when you call.

Teaching children is a vital part of our life cycle. Education jobs are a key to this cycle continuing. If you've ever looked at jobs in education or thought that teaching small children might be for you, I encourage you to look into the CDA licensing program.
