When you tutor others in a subject, you provide them with the extra help and coaching that they need to pass the course. In order to get hired for such a job, you do need to hold a certificate, diploma or degree in the subject you teach. A Bachelor’s degree with a major concentration in a subject area along with teacher training are the preferred qualifications for this type of job. Many teachers in the regular school system also work as tutors after school hours, but they are not allowed to charge for tutoring their own students. This would represent a conflict of interest.

The are many different places where you can get a job as a tutor, such as after school programs or help programs for students with learning difficulties. You can also set up your own business when you have the proper qualifications and provide help and support to students from all grade levels.
