Different teaching positions in the United States will continue to be in high demand. Teachers for grade schools, middle schools, and post-secondary schools will be needed to respond to the growing number of children and young professionals who be trekking back to school every enrollment period.

The expansion of special education classes catering to non-English-speaking students will open new teaching jobs for many qualified applicants. Special courses for persons with disabilities as well as for young children with special needs will also be opened for new teachers with specialized skills. Out-of-school youths and adults are expected to fill in vocational and technical schools in the coming years, so more teaching personnel with actual technical and field experience will also be needed. Similarly, the increased population of young children attending preparatory and kindergarten schools will also open more teaching vacancies for new teachers.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics sees the projected employment growth in the whole education industry at 12 percent from 2008 to 2018. This means that teaching employment and non-teaching positions will be up for grabs for the said period because of the growing support for the expansion and improvement of the educational system based on the trending needs of various students from different sectors and levels.

Teaching vacancies are also expected to rise with the retirement of some teachers from different levels from various schools and colleges. The introduction of new methods and special skills for teaching to handle students with special needs is also expected to attract applicants who have the experience, knowledge, or special skills, which they can apply in a teaching work.

Professionals who are looking at career advancement or enhancement of their skills are also expected to go back to school for post-secondary education. On the other hand, more high schools students will be attending college to acquire more knowledge and skills for future career choices. This trend will drive up the need for more teaching positions in this level across the US, which BLS says is showing growth that is "faster than average" than the whole industry itself.

Teaching jobs have varying qualifications and training needs. Pre-school teachers, for instance, will need State-required credentials which include a high school diploma, a community college course, an early childhood education or child development degree, or a national certification for Child Development Associate (CDA). Teaching employment for elementary, middle, secondary, and kindergarten in public schools will need applicants who have acquired the number of credits for education subjects, supervised practice teaching, teaching license, and completed teacher training programs.

A special education master's degree or a specialized training for special education will be asked from applicants who wish to do teaching work on a particular field. For vocational or technical course teaching, applicants need to have actual field experience along with their special skills to qualify for these special courses because actual outputs are the expected results of these teaching jobs.

The good thing about the different teaching positions available in private schools is that they will not be required teaching licenses to qualify, but are expected to have at least completed a bachelor's degree focused on the particular course or subject they want to teach. While elementary school teachers need to secure childhood education training. New graduates are easily accepted in private schools because of their less stringent requirements.

Teaching jobs are not only in demand today and for many years to come, but they also offer good career opportunities for many people. The compensation is generally higher compared to many other jobs in other industries. Full-time post-secondary teachers, according to the same BLS data, posted the highest average median annual wage at $61,500. Secondary school teachers came in second highest with $51,230. Middle school teachers had $49,740. Elementary school teachers posted $49,370, while all the rest had an average median annual wage of $30,120.

Nowadays, school administrators are stressing the need for more qualified applicants to fill in teaching positions in their respective schools. For new graduates and other applicants who are eager to join the professional teaching force and already have the necessary qualifications, it should be easy to find their niche in one of these schools.
